My name is Amy-Lynn Albertson, and I work for NC Cooperative Extension in Davidson County. I am challenging myself and residents of Davidson County to Eat Local. This blog is to chronicle my family’s journey through the challenge and to promote our local growers. When you purchase locally grown produce, your money stay within your community. North Carolina is a great agricultural state! We grow just about everything you can eat.

Hi! My family and I are trying to make a similar move in eating locally. I was wondering what you are doing for meat. I am especially interested in finding a local chicken and pork supplier. Thanks for any information!
Wendi- We have two vendors at the Lexington farmers market who sell meat. Upper DC Cattle Company (www.dccattle.com) sells grass fed beef and pork, and Soggy Bottom Farm sells pasture raised chickens( email: chicknfarmer@lexcominc.net). Both farms sell off the farm and at the Lexington Market. My husband hunts and fishes, so we eat a lot of venison and flounder.
Hi,
